Message from Dean Milla D. Boschung Welcome to the website for the College of Human Environmental Sciences. The 2007-2008 academic year is underway with students located on our campus and around the world in our distance programs. The College of Human Environmental Sciences has the distinction of being the fastest growing college on the University of Alabama campus. We have had enrollment growth since 1984 -- 24 straight years. HES is a college of professional programs that challenge students to become successful in academics, leadership, and service. Our academic departments include Clothing Textile and Interior Design, Consumer Sciences, Human Development and Family Studies, Nutrition and Hospitality Management, and Health Studies. The Ph.D. can be earned in health education/health promotion and also includes an emphasis in nutrition for Registered Dietitians. A Ph.D. in psychology with a concentration in developmental science is available through a collaborative arrangement between the Department of Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Human Environmental Sciences and the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. We are pleased to offer degree programs by Distance Education. At the undergraduate level, students may complete majors in either general studies in human environmental sciences, restaurant, hotel and meetings management, or consumer sciences. The degree in family financial planning and counseling is also available by Distance Education at the masters level. I am very proud to welcome you to our website.
