Head Football Athletic Trainer

  • BS - The University of Alabama, 1976
  • MA - The University of Alabama, 1982

Rodney Brown joined the Tide staff as Head Football Athletic Trainer in 1999, but he is no stranger to Alabama athletics.  As Manager of DCH SportsMedicine, Rodney was Alabama's Director of Rehabilitation and was in the Football Athletic Training Room on a daily basis beginning in 1997.  The Northport AL native began his career in 1978 as a teacher, coach and athletic trainer in the Tuscaloosa County School System.  After leaving the school system in 1987, Mr. Brown still worked extensively with Tuscaloosa area middle schools, high school, college and recreational athletes through the outreach programs at AMI West Alabama Hospital and DCH SportsMedicine.

Rodney has served as an adjunct faculty member and clinical instructor within the ATEP since 1992 and is a member of the ATEP Selection Committee.  He is a Past President of the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association and is presently a member of the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers Continuing Education Committee.  Rodney holds credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is a Licensed Emergency Technician.  His encyclopedic knowledge of anatomy makes Rodney very effective in teaching his students injury evaluation skills.
