CTD 219 TEXTILE DESIGN

Course Description

Using the latest computerized design systems, students create original designs, repeats, colorways and coordinates targeting specific markets.  Emphasis is on the creative use of advanced software, awareness of industry trends, and the development of an original portfolio of digitally produced designs.

Two, 2˝ lecture/lab classes weekly

 

Course Objectives

1.       To understand a textile designer’s approach to design, the design process and two-dimensional design fundamentals

2.       To learn to create designs specifically adapted to textile design

3.       To apply the elements and principles of design to textile design

4.       To learn the techniques used in the textile industry today

5.       To use a hands-on approach to explore several textile design techniques

6.       Acquire knowledge and skill in the use of computer hardware and software and the application to apparel and interior design and production

7.       Demonstrate proficiency in computer-aided apparel and interior design applications

8.       Demonstrate an awareness of the interrelationship of environment and man
