This
course teaches students to integrate technical skills, scientific
methodologies and subject matter with computer applications to solve problems
relevant to their fields of study.
Basic skills in the use of WINDOWS, e-mail, use of the WWW, word
processing, spreadsheet applications, and database management software
programs are expected. This course
will develop advanced skills in these areas with focus on how students can
apply the use of these programs to their majors in Human Environmental
Sciences.

• Advanced uses of MS Word for complex
graphical documents, web page development, advanced tables, and mail merge
correspondence
• Advanced use of MS Excel in working
with formulas and functions, multiple workbooks with 3D referencing, macros,
data management using lists, and conversion of spreadsheets for use on web
pages
• Advanced use of MS Access to create
relational table structures, multiple table queries, forms with subforms,
multiple table reports, and exporting data to web pages
• Advanced use of MS PowerPoint to create
presentations linked to other MS office objects (such as word tables and
excel charts), advanced features such as adding transitions, custom
animation, and sound, collaboration techniques, and conversion of
presentations for web pages.
• File organization and use of CD
technology for data storage
