Course Description

Sound advice and vital practical help with developing an idea into a business on the Internet, which addresses aspects of specialization in Human Environmental Sciences.  The course will also address the different aspects of designing and creating a web site, Internet marketing and advertising, the role of search engines and directories, measuring the effectiveness of an Internet strategy, e-mail marketing, the scope of e-commerce within communications, global aspects of the Internet, and the value of community- and interpersonal-communication and

The modes of Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Customer (B2C), Business-to-Employee (B2E), Business-to-Exchange (B2X), Bricks, Clicks and “Three-tailing” are examined.

 

Course Objectives

1.       Describe the role and importance of e-commerce in the U.S. economy.

2.       Identify business ideas that would be successful on the Internet.

3.       Design and develop a web site for a business.

4.       Identify financial strategies available for financing an Internet business.

5.       Examine the role of marketing in e-commerce.

6.       Identify promotional and advertising strategies for the Internet.
