HES 552 TRENDS AND ISSUES

Course Description

This course is designed for sport professionals desiring to increase their knowledge and understanding of contemporary trends and issues in sport management.

 

Course Objectives

The objectives of this course are to assist the sport management student in identifying and obtaining knowledge about contemporary trends and issues in sport management. Listed below are objectives for this course:

1.       To become familiar with contemporary trends and issues in sport management.

2.       To gain a better understanding of contemporary trends and issues as they relate to the job setting. Specifically, this course will review these potential topics: contracts and negotiation, event management, risk management and legal aspects, public relations, sport marketing, ethics, financial, and compliance with sport governing bodies.

3.       Provide an overview of current research and its impact on sport management professionals.

*In this course you will not learn all of the answers, but you will learn to ask more intelligent questions.
