Prerequisites:     CH 362 or Permission of the Instrutor

 

Course objectives:  Upon completion of this course, the

students will be able to:

 

     1.Discuss the essential functions of,           carbohydrates,lipids and proteins.

 

     2.Give an in-depth discussion of carbohydrates,               lipids and protein metabolism.

 

     3.List the biochemical control points and hormones        that the body utilizes when adapting to changes in       dietary composition or in homeostasis.

 

     4.Discuss the metabolic interrelationship of energy nutrients in various nutritional and hormonal states.

 

     5.Apply lecture and textbook concepts to nutritional      problems.

Early administration of final exams:

     The Department of Human Nutrition and Hospitality Management follows the schedule of examinations printed in the schedule book.  The policy of The University of Alabama is not to allow the early administration of final exams.  The Department adheres to this policy.

 

Make-up exam policy:

     Make-up exams are highly discouraged.  They will be given only to those students who were excused prior to the time the exam was scheduled.  Taking a make-up exam is a privilege, not a right, and will be granted only in rare circumstances.  The make-up exam will be given on the day of the final examination.

 

Attendance policy:  Attendance is expected and required.
