An emphasis in nutrition is available to students in the Ph.D. program in Health Education and Health Promotion offered by the Department of Health Science in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama (UA). The degree is a joint program offered by UA, the Department of Human Studies in the School of Education at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and the Department of Health Behavior in the School of Public Health at UAB. The nutrition emphasis allows students to replace the social and behavioral science concentration required in the plan of study with 12 hours of graduate courses in nutrition and to complete the research internships and dissertation under the guidance of the nutrition faculty.
