Human Development and Family Studies Program

  Marriage and Family Therapy

The specialization in human development and family studies provides students with the theoretical foundation and research skills necessary for pursuing doctoral work and for advanced employment in a wide variety of occupations serving children, adults, and families.  Students can choose to concentrate in either human development or family studies.  Both concentrations provide students with the theoretical foundation and research skills necessary for pursuing doctoral work and for advanced employment in a wide variety of occupations serving children, adults and families.  In the Family Studies concentration, opportunities exist for certification as Family Life Educator or Child Life Specialist.  Opportunities for research and experiential learning are provided in the research laboratories, The Children's Program and with various agencies serving children and families across the state of Alabama.
