Child Life Student Responsibilities
Prior to the final child life internship semester, it is the student’s responsibility to make sure the following items are addressed and/or completed. Failure to comply will mean a postponement and/or change of focus in the student’s plan of study.

MEET WITH YOUR ADVISOR OFTEN

Complete all required coursework. Some courses are only taught in the Spring or Fall semester. It is the student’s responsibility to plan accordingly.

Make application to the Child Life Program by last week of classes in Spring semester prior to taking HD 426, which is only taught in the Fall.

Have the required grade point average (2.2 overall, 2.5 in the major) prior to making application.

Receive written acceptance into the Child Life Program.

Talk with internship coordinator.

Secure liability insurance prior to the internship.

Accrue hospital practicum/volunteer hours prior to internship.

Join the Child Life Council (www.childlife.org)
